Advanced Installations

Advanced installations options are provided for power users, administrators and other users with special needs. These options can be useful for situations where there is limited internet access, customization required, kiosks to set up, or even just to have the Defensive Driving Simulator applet on your own webpage.

1. Embedded within a web page
   • Put our applet on your webpage.
   • Administrator mode DISABLED.
   • REQUIRES a web server.
2. Java Web Start Desktop Icon
   • Put an icon on your desktop.
   • Administrator mode ENABLED.
   • REQUIRES an internet connection to run.
3. Local JAR Installation
   • Have an independent executable.
   • Administrator mode ENABLED.
   • Does NOT REQUIRE an internet connection or webserver.
4. Your own Defensive Driving Simulator website
   • Create your own version of this site and contents.
   • Has BOTH applet and Java Web Start options.
   • REQUIRES a web server.

Embedded within a web page

1. Make sure you have a website that has space for an applet.
2. Download the applet bundle from here.
3. Make a web page that has the following applet tag:

4. Unzip applet.zip and upload the files to the same folder as your web page.

Java Web Start Desktop Icon

You have the option of creating a Java Web Start Desktop Icon the very first time you run the Defensive Driving Simulator using Java Webstart. You will be prompted to create a desktop icon. Click on yes, and you will have an icon to run the Defensive Driving Simulator on your desktop. To do this click here.

Local JAR Installation

1. Download the JAR from here.
2. Run it:
   • Double click on the icon.
   • OR run

     java -jar application.jar

     from the command line.

Your own Defensive Driving Simulator website

1. Download the source code here.
2. Follow our Build Instructions
3. Copy the entire export folder to your web server.
